About the Family Housing Bonus
The Bono Familiar de Vivienda is a Costa Rican state contribution, administered by BANHVI, towards buying, building or improving a home. The amount depends on gross household income — the lower the income, the larger the bonus.
The income brackets and the bonus amounts do not behave the same way. The brackets are multiples of the minimum wage of an unskilled construction worker, so they move whenever that wage is adjusted. The bonus amounts are fixed in colones.
So this page stores each in its own unit: the wage multiple for the brackets, colones for the bonus. Treating the bonus as a multiple would quietly inflate it every January.

How much is the housing bonus in Costa Rica?
From ₡6,061,000 to ₡9,700,000, depending on gross household income. The maximum applies to the lowest-income households.
Why do the first two brackets pay the same amount?
Because that is how BANHVI publishes it: the maximum bonus covers every household earning up to a full wage, not only those at half a wage.
What if my income is above the last bracket?
No bonus applies. The table ends at the highest published bracket; above it the programme contributes nothing.
Do the amounts change every year?
The income brackets do, because they are multiples of the construction minimum wage and that wage is adjusted. The bonus amounts are in colones and change only when BANHVI updates them.
