Country (gated subdivision)

A private gated subdivision with own security and shared amenities, where lots are sold for owners to build homes following internal rules.

In Paraguay (and South America generally) a "country" is not the countryside itself but a private gated subdivision — a model imported from Argentina. Composed of individually-deeded lots plus shared areas (internal streets, security, green spaces, clubhouse, tennis, pool). Owners build their homes following the subdivision's rules. Self-administered with monthly dues. Distinguished from "barrio cerrado" by larger lots and more landscape/recreation focus.
